Tournament Rules

All SAY rules will be followed with these exceptions and/or additions:

  1. All games for U8 will be 8 minute quarters. All games for U10, U12, and U15 will be 10-minute quarters.  Games for U19 will be 20-minute halves.  There will be 1 minute between quarters and 5 minutes for halftime.
  2. Home team, top of bracket, will be on left side of field, as facing the spectators. Teams will switch sides each half.
  3. Away team will kickoff 1st & 3rd quarters, home team will kickoff 2nd & 4th quarters
  4.  In the event of a tie in points, the following tiebreakers will be used in this order to determine the teams in the championship game.
    1. Referee to provide instructions.
    2. The shootout will be done from the same goal (referee to decide) and a coin toss to decide who shoots first and will follow (Team A, Team B, Team A, Team B) and if still tied then same players and shootout starts over (Team B, Team A, Team B, Team A).
    3. If still tie after 2 shootouts, goes to sudden death shot for shot.  If first player Team A scores and player Team B misses, game is decided.
    4. For the U8 shootout will be 4 versus 4, there will be no goalie, best of 4, and will shoot from penalty mark.
    5. For U10 and up the shootout will be 5 versus 5 with a goalie, best of 5, with players shooting from penalty mark similar to penalty kick.
    6. No player can shoot a second time until all 5 (4 for u8) have taken their shot, then start order over.
    7. Players selected for shootout need to stand within center circle and non-shootout players and coaches behind mid-field line outside of center circle, with home team on left side as facing the goal.
    8. Once shootout team is picked, swapping of shootout player for non-shootout player is not allowed, unless injured during shootout, and then new player takes that injured player's position in order.  If goalie changed and goalie on shootout team, original goalie remains on shootout team unless changed due to injury.
    9. Goalie can be changed, although this must be done prior to opposing team sending player to penalty mark.
  5. Any player, coach or spectator receiving a red card or violating the code of conduct will not be allowed to remain at the tournament for the remainder of the day.
  6. All games and calls are final. No protests are allowed.

The tournament will be held at Ryan Park on July 30 & 31st, 2022, with all U8, U10, U12, U15 and U19 teams participating.  Each team will play a minimum of two games in the double elimination bracket tournament.
