Kewaunee County Youth Soccer Association - Kids having fun playing soccer!
General Program Information > U8 - U19
KCYSA provides recreational league play for youth ages 6 - 18. Co-educational, age-appropriate teams are formed in each community (Algoma, Kewaunee, Luxemburg) and these teams in turn form the divisions, U8, U10, U12, U15 and U19. The fee to participate includes a jersey and a participation medal or trophy. Players are responsible for providing their own gear, including shin guards, shorts, socks that cover the entire shin-guard (even if they are all-in-one sock/guards), non-metal soccer cleats (no toe cleats allowed) or tennis shoes and a ball.

No experience is necessary to play KCYSA soccer. For example, a 13 year-old who has never played soccer before is more than welcome to come and play!

Age Classifications
KCYSA will offer the following age groups for the 2012 season (the 'U' stands for 'under'):
  • U8 - ages 6 & 7, must not turn 8 on or before July 31, 2012, games on Mondays
  • U10 - ages 8 & 9, must not turn 10 on or before July 31, 2012, games on Wednesdays
  • U12 - ages 10 & 11, must not turn 12 on or before July 31, 2012, games on Wednesdays
  • U15 - ages 12, 13, & 14 - must not turn 15 on or before July 31, 2012, games on Mondays
  • U19 - ages 15, 16, 17, & 18 - must not turn 19 on or before July 31, 2012, games on Tuesday

A player may move up one division IF they have a sibling that plays in that division AND a written request is made at the time of registration. Please note: KCYSA does not honor requests to have players on the same team due to carpooling reasons. This policy has been in place for many years.

Teams in U8 - U19 are chosen in a blind draw. Our SAY Area covers Kewaunee County. Players living within another SAY District or Area may play in KCYSA with written permission from the SAY Area/District in which he/she lives. A player may only play in one SAY Area/District and on only one team within that Area/ District during the same season

Practices begin no earlier than May 15 of the current season. This is mandated by our insurance carrier. Coaches will contact players regarding practice times and place.

Because we are a recreational (rec.) league, we do not publish league standings throughout the year. Win-loss records are recorded for the soul purpose of awarding the SAY-issued league championship patch at the end of the year. After the regular season ends, the teams in the U10-U19 divisions participate in our year-end tournament where 1st and 2nd places in each age group for the tournament are recognized. A Sportsmanship award is also give to the team in each age group U8 - U19 whose players, spectators and coaches exhibit positive sportsmanship throughout the entire season. ALL players recieve a participant trophy or medal at the end of the season.

2012 Fields
Games are played in each community on a rotating basis. Every attempt is made to create a balance of home and away games for each team, but due to coaches committed to multiple teams on the same night, there may be some seasons when this does not happen.
  • Games in Algoma are played at the Algoma High School, U8 & U10 - east field, U12, U15 & U19, west field.
  • Games in Kewaunee: U19, U15 & U12 - Kewaunee School. U8 & U10 - Kiewig Park.
  • Games in Luxemburg: U8 and U10, Luxemburg Complex, U12, U15 and U19 - Village Pond Field
Spectators are asked to sit on the opposite side of the field as the teams. Referees will ask any spectator sitting on the sidelines with the teams to move to the opposite side of the field. KCYSA has a procedure in place for U8 parents who have the SAY Volunteer Application on file and a KCYSA-issued ID card to be able to be on the sidelines with the team and assist the coaches with this younger group. If you are a parent of a U8 player and would be willing to help on the sidelines on game nights, please fill out the SAY Volunteer Application (a new app must be on file each year), indicating on the bottom that you are a U8 parent. If you have any questions regarding the Volunteer Application, please contact SAY Area Volunteer Administrator Robyn Harper at president@kcysa.org.

No refund policy: KCYSA has a no refund policy for registration fees collected, even if the player decides not to play prior to the start of the season. Thank you for respecting this policy.

WIAA Players
If your child plays WIAA soccer, he/she cannot participate in KCYSA soccer until the WIAA season is complete for him/her.  They will be assigned to a team, but will not be able to practice or play a game until they are done with WIAA.  We are working with the schools involved to make sure we are aware of their schedules.  If your child does play KCYSA soccer while also playing WIAA soccer, the WIAA games will have to be forfeited.
