General Program Information > Games
Game schedules will be posted as soon as they are available. The season typically runs from the first week in June to the first week in August, with a week off around the July 4 holiday. Thursday is used for occasional regular season games and make-up games.
Game Nights and Times
Games are played in each community on a rotating basis. Every attempt is made to create a balance of home and away games for each team, but due to coaches committed to multiple teams on the same night, there may be some seasons when this does not happen.
KCYSA has a procedure in place for U8 parents who have the SAY Volunteer Application on file and a KCYSA-issued ID card to be able to be on the sidelines with the team and assist the coaches with this younger group. If you are a parent of a U8 player and would be willing to help on the sidelines on game nights, please fill out the SAY Volunteer Application (a new app must be on file each year), indicating on the bottom that you are a U8 parent. If you have any questions regarding the Volunteer Application, please contact our SAY Area Volunteer Administrator Robyn Harper at president@kcysa.org.
Games called for Bad Weather
The Center Referee assigned to each field will make the call to cancel a game. No coaches or players can make the determination to cancel a game due to inclement weather. It is always your right as a parent to withhold your child from play if you feel it necessary. Normal forfeiture rules apply if a team does not have the minimum amount of players at the start of a game that has not been officially canceled by the Center Referee. Please call your coach if you are in doubt or show up at the field at the time of the scheduled game and have your coach ask the Center Referee if the game has been canceled. Make up times for canceled games will be set by Director of Scheduling Alan Maurer, scheduling@kcysa.org.
On occasion, the Board of Directors may decided to cancel games during the course of the day (excessive heat, tornado warnings, unsafe field conditions). Every attempt is made to contact one coach on each team as soon as the decision is made. A notice will be placed on the homepage of this site as well as on our Facebook page. It is up to the coach to contact the players.
Please note: KCYSA does not currently govern any of the fields we utilize. For this reason, games may be canceled if the organization that owns the fields decides to do so. We will follow the procedure above if we are notified that a field is unavailable for play that night. Sometimes these circumstances are out of our control. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
